As a member of the Alumni Association you can activate an Alumni Association sponsored university e-mail account with 5MB of disk storage to retain messages. Your account is valid for 12 months and will be automatically extended when you renew your annual membership. The Alumni Association will automatically renew lifetime member accounts on a regular basis.

TO REGISTER FOR YOUR ALUMNI E-MAIL ACCOUNT, PLEASE EMAIL US WITH YOUR NAME AND MEMBERSHIP NUMBER, LOCATED ON YOUR MEMBERSHIP CARD.

Your account name and alias will be created by the university based upon your first and last name (firstname.lastname@csun.edu). Every effort will be made to create an account based upon your first preference. Your e-mail address will be assigned once we have validated that there are no other duplicate addresses in the system. If duplicate addresses do exist, we will use a middle initial or a number to distinguish users. If you currently have an active student account, you will keep the same e-mail alias.

The account will include Antivirus and AntiSPAM filtering as provided by the campus e-mail infrastructure and a university e-mail mailbox with 5 MB of disk space to retain e-mail messages. Access to the university e-mail system is via a web-based interface (referred to as webmail). You will need access to the Internet to use your account.

 

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do I need web access to view my account?
Yes. The campus e-mail system works on a web interface called webmail. The Alumni Association is not an Internet service provider. You will need access to the university homepage to retrieve your e-mail.

How do I access my account?
Once activated, you can access your account online at www.csun.edu/webmail by typing in your account name and password. Please allow 2-3 days to activate your account. You may contact the CSUN helpdesk at (818) 677-1400 to retrive your username and temporary password once your account has been activated.

Can I change my password?
Yes, once your account has been activated you can change your password online at www.csun.edu/account.

What if I am not sure if I am a Member of the Alumni Association?
If you are unsure of your membership status, contact the Office of Alumni Relations at (818) 677-2137 or e-mail alumni@csun.edu for assistance. Annual memberships in the Alumni Association start at $40 per year. There are discounted rates for alumni who have graduated in the past 12 months. For membership information click here.

What if my membership lapses?
Your e-mail account is considered a benefit of membership in the Alumni Association. If you do not renew your membership on an annual basis, your account will be purged from the system. You will receive regular renewal notices from the Alumni Association and an administrative warning e-mail before your account is purged for non-payment. Annual memberships are 12 months in duration, but lifetime memberships do not need to be renewed.

What if two people have the same name?
If duplicate names exist, we will use a middle initial or a number to distinguish between users.

How is my e-mail address used by the university

Your name, address, phone number, e-mail, college and year of graduation may be used by Cal State Northridge for the development of university-affiliated marketing programs, benefit offerings, and invitations to programs and events.
